Week 29 - Plans

Thanksgiving is next week and never have I ever felt so behind in planning. No shopping done, no menu for that matter, no dinner plans or ready made pick up dinner plans. Part of the problem is that I do enjoy the *idea of the Thanksgiving feast, food in the oven, the smells from the kitchen. Perhaps ¬¬because of my grandma I associate home cooked meals with love and feeling taken care of. It’s cozy. I want to give that same feeling and nostalgia to my boys. The other half of me though, is the person that cooks nice meals all year long and maybe wants a day off however that looks. I’m equally torn between dressing fancy and going to a nice restaurant where someone else does the cooking and the dishes and picking up a premade dinner from somewhere and staying in pajamas at home. Maximum effort required is just to warm or reheat in the oven. What to do, what to do? Perhaps the solution is one year on and one year off? Either way the goal is just to spend quality time with family. No work, no school, no other obligations, just precious time spent with the ones you love.

Despite the month slipping away from me, it’s actually been pretty quiet. Especially compared to October when it seemed that each and every waking moment was accounted for. This year it feels like a blink between Halloween and Thanksgiving. I thought if I slowed down, time would too but still it goes by in a flash. Onto next week! I have to pick up mom from the airport, we’ll probably have lunch somewhere and I guess between now and then I should figure out what we’re doing…

  • Golden Bachelor and Bachelor in Paradise - You already know. I love the drama, I love the love. What can I say?

RHOSLC - Monica is in such pain. I feel for her struggling with her mother and trying to find her place in the group.

  • The Overnight Guest by Heather Gudenkauf - It’s getting colder outside (finally) and thus so are my book settings. I really loved this book, jumping back and forth in time, the character and plot development. Highly recommend this winter read! Perfect for a glass of wine by the fireplace!

The Other People by C.J. Tudor - I’ve been on a CJ Tudor kick lately. This is the latest on my efforts of working through her collection. Fascinating exploration of the mysterious dark web and the desperation of grieving people.

  • Dark House Podcast - I meant to stop listening to these after Halloween but I couldn’t help myself. This week I listened to the Amityville and Ammons House episodes. Whatever I thought I knew about Amityville was completely upended.

    DeuxU Podcast - Permanent Plug

  • Chicken Tortellini by Half Baked Harvest. Easily in my top 10 favorite recipes from Tieghan, might even be in my top 5. I make this for my family all the time.

  • This gorgeous rhinestone bow barrette that I found at TJ Maxx of all places. I cannot wait to wear it this holiday season.

HomeGoods is NOT Hobby Lobby.
