Week 27 - Boo

Halloween came together as best it could. I wanted to find trick or treat bags that matched my kids costumes better than my reusable grocery bags but I didn’t. I didn’t have time to do the couples costumes with my husband that I wanted. I ran out of time to make the cookies and cocktails I wanted. The night itself was so chaotic, I didn’t get to film for my family movies like how I wanted. And do you know what? All that’s okay. I had an amazing time with my boys. My mom and extended family came and helped pass out candy. We shared food with the neighbors. It was cold, finally! I loved it. Sometimes we can’t get to it all, sometimes our expectations aren’t met, and that’s okay! Let it go!

The day after Halloween we had our fall family photoshoot. Excellent planning on my part I know. Of course I was running around day of buying some last minute things. I barely had time to do my hair and makeup before running and picking up my boys from school. I had about 20 minutes to get them dressed before we had to get back in the car and head to our location. It was a tight turn around but we somehow made it. It was cold which the kids did not love but they rallied and did absolutely amazing. I’m on pins and needles waiting to get those photos back.

Saturday of course was the match up against LSU and Alabama. It also happened to be my anniversary. I shared my wedding weekend story mainly for my Instagram followers who I’d mostly gotten from my LSU/BamaRush video but surprisingly it performed better on TikTok. You never know what’s going to do well and where. I’ve been able to predict this metric accurately, exactly zero times. But that’s part of the fun. As for our dinner, which of course happened early enough so we could watch the game, it was perfect. I wore my pretty plum dress I bought a few weeks back and some bronze shoes I wore to a wedding several years ago. We went to The Little Big Cup and had the best meal. We ordered the praline chicken, debris fries, and shared the most outrageous steak with crawfish tails, and truffle mashed potatoes. The cocktails were delicious as was the white chocolate bread pudding.

It was an absolutely whirlwind week and by Sunday I was ready to collapse. I didn’t of course and went to see Eras Tour Film with my mom, which is a near 3 hour extravaganza into the brilliant mind of mega pop superstar Taylor Swift. I found myself whispering trivia to mom which ended with us gushing in the car over how wonderful Travis seems for her. Mom couldn’t get over the production value and all the costume changes. Her guitar and piano playing and showmanship. I of course am only more determined to get somehow get my hands on tickets for next year. It is not over until the pleasantly plump opera lady sings.

I have a quiet week and about 5 breaths worth before having to start planning Thanksgiving and yet another child’s birthday. Here we go.

  • RHOBH - I really appreciated seeing a softer side to Erica at her lunch with Dorit. My heart absolutely broke for Garcelle when she was talking to Sutton about her sons. I love Crystal’s brother and how he joined her in the confessional, more please!

The Golden Bachelor - The bloopers for the Golden Bachelor with those ladies are the absolute best bloopers that franchise has ever seen. I love them all and I envy the editors that got to see all the raw footage we didn’t.

  • All Hallows by Christopher Golden. Perfect Halloween read!

  • Dark House Podcast - This week in preperation for Halloween I listened to The Conjuring House episode and the Winchester Mystery House episode. I found both to be surprising and completely reframed my thoughts on the houses.

DeuxU Podcast - Permanent Plug. Who I am if I’m not checking on on Travis and Tay?

  • One Pan Creamy Sausage Gnocchi by Salt and Lavender. Yes I can cook something other than Half Baked Harvest. I love this meal. We make it all the time. It’s so rich and creamy. The right sausage makes all the difference. It’s not a lot of ingredients and so simple to make.

  • Cold and Cough medicine. ‘Tis the season!

We had a whole weekend planned because we thought we were special.
