Week 23 - The Crown

I got back into filming this week which was a huge victory. It was the longest I had gone without posting and it felt a little weird jumping back in. It can be hard with all the kids and all the things finding quiet space and time to film so I film where and when I can. This week a lot of that happened in the car waiting to pick up my kids. You get it where you can.

This week my husband and I finally had time to try and track down some art so we could do the spooky ghost painting trend. I had shown him a couple videos from when I was scrolling Tiktok and Instgram and we both thought it would make for a fun date night in. We had previously checked out a couple stores but had no luck. We drove out to one of my favorite antique stores and found a great many treasures and trinkets but not one useable painting could be found. Everything was wall sized or very expensive for what we planned to do with it, or a portrait, or something that didn’t make any sense. No cute farmhouses, landscapes or even cityscapes anywhere. The store itself had so many amazing pieces I wish I had the room and money for. Several vendors had Fall and Halloween decor including one that had a pair of stuffed fabric turkeys which were actually quite lovely and a billion times better than the $350 turkey I saw at HomeGoods. There was a lot of lively discourse about the HomeGoods turkey over on TikTok, both about its aesthetic and its price. Many mentioned that it was probably better to shop local thrift and antique stores and they were not wrong. Shop local, shop small! Despite the fact that we didn’t find any good paintings I did find the most amazing headband crown and thus - more content in the car. I love that crown. I loved it from the second I saw it and yes I had that immediate gut punch reaction to it. It sparked all sorts of joy and I would’ve been devastated had I left it and came back to find it gone. It’s fun, it’s whimsy, and I cannot wait for all the adventures we’re going to have together.

The rest of the weekend passed in a blur of obligations and activities but I still made it to the Caroline’s Cookies Pop-Up (help me). This week my kids have fall break and will be home so I’ll have to get creative with my filming. I’m hoping to start incorporating more trends since those are easy and quick. My goal is to get back to posting every day and hopefully a couple times a day if I can. There’s so much coming up to the end of the year I don’t anticipate having trouble coming up with content.

  • The Amazing Race - I actually love all the teams this season! At least so far, time will tell if any villains emerge but I don’t believe so with this group.

The Kardashians - In for a penny, in for a pound!

RHONY - Jessel and Sai. Deep sigh. Poor Jessel has laid her whole sex life bare but remains accused of not being open and honest. Every time does try to connect with the girls it comes off all wrong. Jenna and Brynn remain undefeated.

  • The Maidens by Alex Michaelides.- Picked this up again, life got in the way but also my library loan expired so I had to wait fo check it out again but here we are! I’m so intrigued by this concept, I wish I could read for longer stretches at a time but I’m sleep deprived.

  • Dark House Podcast - specifically the S.K. Pierce Mansion episode. Listened to this one on a gloomy evening walk and absolutely got chills multiple times.

DeuxU Podcast - Permanent plug as always but I’m absolutely loving the addition of Ferris. The banter back and forth is so fun, I especially love when they break into song.

  • Bean and Pepper Quesadillas (mine) but not too much else. Everyone was sick and we wound up eating what we could, when we could.

  • So many clothes. Fall family photoshoot for a family of 5 and outfit changes for the kids plus fall/winter clothes for when it finally does get cold down here. I bought from Old Navy/Gap, Hope & Henry, and Abercrombie Kids.

Crock Pot 8 Quart Programmable Slow Cooker - The insert to my old slow cooker was shattered (I have 3 boys) so I decided to take the opportunity to go ahead and size up. I like the large capacity for dinner parties and doubling recipes to freeze half.

Delulu is my permanent state.
