Week 22 - It’s October Now

This past week was a big one and yet I didn’t make much progress posting. My mom was in town and we tried to cram in as much as possible. We had family time, game night, we set up the Halloween decorations, and we had our epic Muddy Princess run followed by some time at the beach. We also took turns being sick which is always annoying.

I did swing by Caroline’s Cookies Pop-Up for the 3rd time. This one was held at Sweet Baton Rouge which is one of my top favorite local boutiques, how could I miss it? The line however was still entirely too long. This is a case of do as I say and not as I do. Just because I go to stand in line for the cookies, does not mean that yall need to. They are only just okay, which is why I’ve been to 3 different pop-ups in as many weeks…stay home! Once I secured the bag, I picked up the Magnolia shirts from Sweet Baton Rouge in orchid and grey for me and mom for our Muddy Princess race. They are so pretty and I was nervous about using them for the race but luckily all the mud washed right out and now I can’t wait to wear it out and about with a cute skirt and jacket, you know, if it ever gets cold.

It’s officially October, the countdown to Halloween is on, and we have a jam packed calendar full of the corn mazes, haunted houses, pumpkin patches, and trunk or treats all leading to the big day. We also have our fall family photoshoot, which I still need to source outfits for. It’s very full and fun and exciting and while it is a whirlwind and can be so exhausting, the October - December holiday season is memory making magic for me. It is actually everything I dreamed of and wanted when I imagined being a mother, even the chaos. I just love this time of year so much. I only wish Louisiana would play along with the weather. This week I’m hoping to make it to the thrift shops with my husband to tackle the ghost painting challenge. Wish us luck!

  • The Amazing Race! - A new season! I can stop binge watching all the old ones…for now.

Bachelor in Paradise - The hardest working producers and editors in the history of the whole world. Raises for everyone.

The Golden Bachelor - The limo exits, have mercy. These women are SPICY and I love it.

RHONY - Jenna and Brynn forevah! This maybe the greatest love story of all time.

  • Verity by Colleen Hoover. I’m still only about a quarter of the way through but I’m hooked. If it weren’t for my sleep deprivation I’d have definitely finished it by now.

  • Dark House - I am still absolutely loving this podcast. I love the houses, the commentary, the interviews. I always spend some time looking the houses up on instagram and google so I can have a visual in my mind. Just so fun and fascinating for spooky season.

DeuxU Podcast - Permanent Plug. I am here for any and all Travis and Taylor content.

  • One Skillet French Onion Tater Tot Casserole by Half Baked Harvest. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve made this. Such a fun and kid friendly twist on a classic.

Broccoli Cheddar Chicken by Half Baked Harvest. I made this for the first time and it was a huge hit. Everyone loved it and my mother vowed to make it for her friends.

  • I haven’t bought it yet but I’m eying an 8 qt slow cooker. It’s long past time to upgrade for a bigger vessel so I can keep up with all the family dinners and entertaining.

I’ve forgotten what fall feels like.
