Week 36 - Back at It
The New Year is off to a great start! I’m back to producing content at my pre holiday level. I’m feeling creative and energized. My mind is constantly thinking up ideas. I’m starting to feel slightly more confident in front of the camera and behind it. I’m less precious about my editing choices and starting to think differently. My Southern Daughter video, a riff off of a tiktok trend, did very well on the Gram. I have a soft spot for that one since I got mom to participate in it. I love filming with her, she gets such a kick out it. I posted my updated skincare routine and while the views weren’t as high as my others this week, I really enjoyed the comments! I try to make it a point to like or respond to every comment. I love to engage with the people I follow and love when they respond back to me. There’s no point in any of this without connection.
My goals for the year are to build out the blog more, do more picture and carousel posts on Instagram, build out a newsletter, and just say yes more. Put myself out there more. Truly I’d rather try and fail than not try at all. I’ve limited myself for far too long. I want to say yes and figure it all out later. I want more laughs, more adventures. I want to be more fearless. I want to work on my perfectionism, that done is better than perfect. I’m so excited to see where the next year takes me. I hope it’s good for you as well.

Personally, I’m trying to settle back into some semblance of a routine. The kids are back in school, the holidays are over, and despite me absolutely slamming the first king cake of the season I’m trying to get my health goals back on track. I’m getting back into my running after taking a break after the 10K and cooking more after relying too heavily on takeout and restaurants. I want to drink more water (eyeroll, I KNOW but I do!). I still refuse to buy a Stanley though!

Saltburn - Have mercy. First of all, it’s a gorgeous film. The location, the clothes, the cinematography, the light flares, I am obsessed. The family is wild. The character development of Ollie should be taught in acting classes. Felix and Elspeth are amazing. The dining room scene towards the end is insane. Multiple scenes are absolutely unhinged. But if you want a WILD ride then 10/10 highly recommend.

The Only One Left by Riley Sager - Well, he’s done it again. I love Riley Sager books. They’re rich with plot twists I didn’t see coming and I’m surprised and delighted everytime. I will read anything he writes. Loved this book.

Someone Knows Something Podcast (Seasons 5 and 6) - The Kerrie Brown case just has my heart. I can’t get over this mystery call. It’s so frustrating, I can’t imagine how her family feels. The Donald Izzett Jr case was also tough. The emotions of the dig were a lot. I so desperately want answers and closure for these families.
DeuxU Podcast - Permanent Plug. I really enjoyed the special Disney casting episode with Dana. A fun peek behind the curtain.
-
Peanut Chicken and Brown Rice by Averie Cooks - This is one of my husbands favorite meals of all time. We serve with brown rice and lots of green onions and it’s so delicious. I love this for a weekend slow cooker meal. It’s rich and creamy in the very best way.

Courant Mag:2 Dual Device Charging Stand - I got this for my kitchen. I’ve pretty much run my battery life down by dinner time. It holds my phone at the perfect angle for reading recipes and charges it at the same time. It’s also very pretty. Win-Win-Win.
