Week 23 - The Crown

I got back into filming this week which was a huge victory. It was the longest I had gone without posting and it felt a little weird jumping back in. It can be hard with all the kids and all the things finding quiet space and time to film so I film where and when I can. This week a lot of that happened in the car waiting to pick up my kids. You get it where you can.

This week my husband and I finally had time to try and track down some art so we could do the spooky ghost painting trend. I had shown him a couple videos from when I was scrolling Tiktok and Instgram and we both thought it would make for a fun date night in. We had previously checked out a couple stores but had no luck. We drove out to one of my favorite antique stores and found a great many treasures and trinkets but not one useable painting could be found. Everything was wall sized or very expensive for what we planned to do with it, or a portrait, or something that didn’t make any sense. No cute farmhouses, landscapes or even cityscapes anywhere. The store itself had so many amazing pieces I wish I had the room and money for. Several vendors had Fall and Halloween decor including one that had a pair of stuffed fabric turkeys which were actually quite lovely and a billion times better than the $350 turkey I saw at HomeGoods. There was a lot of lively discourse about the HomeGoods turkey over on TikTok, both about its aesthetic and its price. Many mentioned that it was probably better to shop local thrift and antique stores and they were not wrong. Shop local, shop small! Despite the fact that we didn’t find any good paintings I did find the most amazing headband crown and thus - more content in the car. I love that crown. I loved it from the second I saw it and yes I had that immediate gut punch reaction to it. It sparked all sorts of joy and I would’ve been devastated had I left it and came back to find it gone. It’s fun, it’s whimsy, and I cannot wait for all the adventures we’re going to have together.

The rest of the weekend passed in a blur of obligations and activities but I still made it to the Caroline’s Cookies Pop-Up (help me). This week my kids have fall break and will be home so I’ll have to get creative with my filming. I’m hoping to start incorporating more trends since those are easy and quick. My goal is to get back to posting every day and hopefully a couple times a day if I can. There’s so much coming up to the end of the year I don’t anticipate having trouble coming up with content.
