Week 18 - Onward

Instagram has been growing strong! My BamaRush OOTD has 121K views and over 4000 likes. The most successful Instagram reel I’ve ever posted by a million miles. I love that people have gotten a kick out it. But for as many likes as it had, it had 1ooo more shares which I love even more. The fact that someone would watch it, enjoy it, and then share it with a friend fills my cup all the way up. It’s always nerve wracking and intimidating when a reel does so well. What now? What’s next? Will I ever have another funny thought in my head? I think I did better this time pushing through, not freezing, and continuing to post as normal. My current strategy is to post as much as can as fast as I can so that my people find me. Up til now, when I get notifications it’s because of one reel and while it’s still BamaRush OOTD heavy still, I might have 3-4 different videos pulling likes all at once, which greatly calms my nerves. I get especially thrilled by the folks that go back and like several reels, even the much older ones.

Now for TikTok. Oh TikTok. I feel I neglected it somewhat this past week, with all the attention on Instagram but I am committed to getting back into it. I haven’t done a trendy video in forever. I’m brainstorming series and ideas in the hopes of finally getting on some type of schedule to film ahead and have several drafts ready to. I want to build in some rest days for myself. Filming everyday it turns out, is a lot. The problem is that some of my best ideas are unplanned. The problem with that of course is that I can’t just sit around waiting to have a good idea, I have to be proactive. I do feel like I’m very much just getting started, I have so much more I want to do, want to try. I’d like to do more food and cocktail recipes, more shopping, more adventures. Stay tuned! (I have been wanting to say that.)

In other news, it is my birthday month but even if it wasn’t I’d still love it anyway. Back to school, the start of fall, my favorite recipes, fashion, decor, football, weather (I miss Chicago fall so much I hurt). The mental gymnastics I have to do to get myself into cozy mode when it’s still going to be in the 90s for the next month or so should in of itself be an Olympic sport.

  • Untold Volume 3 on Netflix and BS High on Max because it’s fall now and the sports and I love my husband.

Telemarketers docuseries on Max. I absolutely loved this. This is performance art. Highly recommend.

RHONY - I cannot wait to see how the rest of this trip unfolds.

  • It’s One of Us by J.T. Ellison. I am blazing through this faster than I’ve read a book in a very long time. I love all the different perspectives, the chapters get to the point, very compelling subject matter. The only reason I haven’t finished it yet is because I have kids and I need to sleep.

This article on The Good Trade. I just love love.

  • DeuxU Podcast - I actually do enjoy the paranormal episodes with Jonathan. I know it’s not for everybody but I’m fascinated by it.

More Taylor and Beyonce of course. Midnights and Renaissance specifically.

  • I made Tieghan’s Street Corn Chicken Enchilada Bake for the second time. I just wanted to make sure it was as amazing as I remembered and yes, it was.

  • These skeleton mugs for my boys.

Claw Clips. We’re wearing em.
