Week 17 - Tigah Bait

I posted my BamaRush/Geaux Tigers video to Instagram over a week ago but the last couple of days it’s been going viral! Yay my first viral reel/tok since Area Codes and my first viral reel for Instagram. I’m most proud of its success because Area Codes was already trending. I took an already trending sound and tacked on a small twist. This reel is completely original to me. I used the Pregame audio sound at the end but you had to get through my little jokes first to get to it. I love seeing how much everyone’s enjoyed it and making folks laugh. They’ve been leaving very kind comments and sharing with friends and I absolutely love that. As of right now it’s sitting at 87K views. Over 6K content interactions. If I made 6K people laugh for even just as long as that 1 minute video, I’ve done my job. I strongly believe that laughter is the best medicine and we all need a little more of it.

I am trying to do things differently this time around. With Area Codes I was so caught of guard by it’s success that I just froze. I didn’t know what to do or what to post next. This time I’ve just tried to push past that fear and keep posting. I feel anyone is capable of going viral at least once. The hard part is trying to replicate it. How do you do it again? Imposter syndrome is real right now. What if I never have another good idea ever again? What if I disappoint all my new followers and they all at once realize I’m not what they thought they signed up for? The plan right now seems to be to just pretend none of it’s real, put my blinders on, and keep posting what’s funny or interesting to me and hope it lands. If I do that enough times for long enough, hopefully my people will find me.

That said, my heart near bursts whenever someone comes to me for one video and goes on a liking spree of my old stuff. It’s one thing to like one little joke, another entirely for someone to appreciate a body of work. It’s so validating and rewarding.

In personal news, it’s still hot as sin. It’s been so hot, so dry, Louisiana has been on actual fire. Wildfires have kicked up all across the state and it’s just been devastating. We finally got some much needed rain on Sunday. It came with hail and so much wind, it rained sideways but at least it was something. I keep stalking my 45 day view on my weather apps looking for any kind of relief. We need more rain and cooler temps. September is this week and I’m hoping and praying we’ve seen the last of 100* days for the year. A girl can hope.
