Week 15 - The Great War

I lost The Great War. Ticketmaster hates me and I absolutely cannot talk about it. I did however make a couple reels/toks about my disappointment and they did quite well, especially on Instagram of all places. In fact, my best performing and highest reach reel to date. The only hope I have is that the concert is a year away and maybe something will come up for people and they have to sell their tickets or there will be some surprise drops of tickets that were held back for whatever reason or day of drops after they get the stage built, I know, I know, a girl can dream.

I attempted to make myself feel better with a little retail therapy and don’t you know the stores are chock full of Halloween decor despite the fact that it’s mid-August and 1000 degrees outside. So you know what I did? I bought the damn Halloween decorations. Don’t hate the player, hate the game as they say and as much as I HATE buying Halloween decor in August when my thighs are literally getting 3rd degree burns when I sit on my cars leather seats, but I buy it anyway because I just KNOW all the good stuff will be gone by October 1st.

This does however bring me to my number one universal shopping hack and it’s this. Whatever it is you think you either want or need, would you stand in a 45 minute HomeGoods line for it? How amazing is it really? How bad do you actually want it? Would you stand in line for it twice? This is of course very silly but also this holds all kind of water. Do you know how many things I’ve put back on a shelf after asking myself this question? Sure this little trinket bowl is cute but is it life changing? If no, put it back and let your wallet live to see another day, but if it really does spark all that joy, then go on ahead! I shared my top 5 favorite Trader Joe’s beauty products and I attempted to explain the millennial side part. The tok loved it, my highest organic view count since my viral moment. Look at me being helpful and offering VALUE!

In personal news, we are still settling into our new back to school routines. All day school is a huge adjustment for my little Kindergartner but he’s doing so well! My oldest is rocking it and my littlest is wondering where everyone went, poor thing. I’m knee deep into planning Q4 for this family: birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, vacations, family dinners, and all the things while also trying to find some time for myself.

Balance is hard and also maybe doesn’t exist.

  • Still rewatching The Amazing Race. I get so invested in this and whatever team I pick to rally behind. I am their champion for life and now I’m dragging my oldest son into this nonsense.

RHONY - This show is so much fun. I’m late to NY but so glad I jumped in on this new generation. Absolutely loving all the girls.

The Bachelorette - We’re rooting for Dotun right? Right?

  • The Family Game by Catherine Steadman. It’s so good. I’m over halfway through it and I’m really enjoying trying to figure out this cat and mouse game.

  • Paper Ghosts Podcast. I’m halfway through season 1. I get about 2 episodes in when I’m on my walks and it’s really quite riveting.

DeuxU Podcast - Permanent fixture. No apologies will be made or questions answered.

  • Skillet Street Corn Chicken Enchilada Bake by Half Baked Harvest. Tieghan can be trusted with your family meals plans. Pick anything from her blog and it’s probably going to turn out amazing but this recipe…have mercy. There are just no words. Instant family favorite. My oldest son even requested the leftovers for his school lunch the next day, it was that good.

  • Halloween Decorations - Yes, really. No one’s more upset about it than me. It’s mid August, 100 degrees outside and i’m buying Halloween decorations. The problem is that this when all the stores bring it out and if you wait to buy it in October when you want to, all the good stuff is gone. Same with Christmas, I’m sure I’ll be buying all that next month.

The millennials are maturing.
